Series finale sees Richard take to the skies

The final episode of Extreme Wales is almost upon us and will see Richard push himself beyond his comfort zone as he learns to paramotor from scratch in order to attempt his most ambitious Extreme Wales adventure...flying from south to north Wales, sharing and showcasing Wales from the unique perspective of the air.

Starting in the south east corner of Wales, Richard’s mission is to fly to the north coast of Wales, covering some of his favourite and Wales’ most iconic landmarks.

So far in Season 2, Richard has shared his adventures along the wild and wonderful Pembrokeshire coast coasteering and kayaking, to taking on a self-supported off-road cycling expedition from east to west Wales, from Offa’s Dyke to Barmouth. This week - the skies are Richard’s playground - but first he has to learn how to fly!

“Learning how to paramotor was a really ambitious challenge for me and the crew, especially given the time limitations. But that's the adventure...equal to the actual expedition. It was terrifying at times, but sincerely enriching and so much fun”, stated Richard. “I love learning new things and every now and again we will all have experiences that change our perspective of the world, seeing Wales in this way was one of those moments for me. It's a belter tonight, I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did making it.”

Behind the Scenes clips

You can also see new behind the scenes clips on the BBC Extreme Wales webpage. In order to authentically capture footage without losing the visceral experience for the audience, the One Tribe filming team has been pushing the boundaries again this season. Check out how the team filmed ‘bike to bike’ in episode 2 here.

Finally, Richard added; “Season 2 has been so much fun to make, and I hope we've shown that some of the wildest adventures can be had right here in Wales. But breaking it down even further, adventure doesn't even have to be about the outdoors. In my opinion it's about our mindset whenever we push beyond our comfort zones and enter the unknown. So whether it's climbing a mountain, the Cardiff Half tomorrow or learning a new language, I hope that this series of Extreme Wales has inspired a little more adventure in all of us, no matter how big or small!"
